How to LOSE WEIGHT with Intermittent Fasting and the Correct MINDSET | Struggle Free
Hi, For the last 15 years, I've tried a lot ofdiets and thanks to my big appetite, they all failed! Losing weight successfully with mainstreamdiets, is almost impossible.
That's because no diet lowers your appetite.
As an example, there are plenty of overweightvegetarians out there and for 3 years, I've been an overweight vegetarian.
I've spent most of my life behind a screen, learning about computers and the internet.
Over the years, my thirst for knowledge allowedme, to learn.
how to learn.
We could lower our food intake with calorierestrictive diets.
I could never do that.
The survival instinct, kicked in strongly!I had a huge appetite and I didn't want to starve to death.
I've learned the hard way, that regular dietscan't succeed, mostly because they rely way to much on willpower.
You probably heard of the yo-yo effect fromthe diet world.
Maybe you're thinking that more muscle masswill increase your metabolic resting rate.
And you're right, but not by that much, becauseaccording to recent studies 1 pound of muscle mass burns around 6 calories.
That's just 4 calories more than what 1 pound of fat is using.
This means, that if I transformed all my fatin muscle mass, my metabolic resting rate will increase bythe equivalent of a small cookie.
I wanted a way out.
and probably just asyou, I strongly believed it was a matter of whatI eat and how much I exercised.
Looks good on paper, but this is not sustainable, this is not who we are.
We have cravings.
we are lazy, we are temptedwith thousands of ads daily.
There had to be a better way, than to STRESSourselves with losing weight.
That's when, the geeky part of me decidedto take control of the "weight loss" project.
I was fascinated about the subject, so I clearedthe blackboard and started from zero.
First task was breakfast, the healthiest mealof the day.
All the diets, kept telling me how healthyit is.
But it always bugged me, because I was neverhungry in the morning.
or at least not for the first few hours.
After just a bit of research, I've come acrossthis website, where I found out that: 44% of Americans eat breakfast daily.
Thismeans 56% of Americans don't eat breakfast every day.
So in my eyes if you skip breakfast everynow and then.
you are normal.
From the same website, 22% of breakfast skippersare obese.
If eating breakfast daily is so healthy and recommended for weight loss.
Why is this percentage so small? If it washigher then it would be a clear indication that skipping breakfast can lead to obesity.
Now here's the interesting part.
93% of Americans,BELIEVE that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
And the key word here is believe because ifyou believe it, you actually feel guilty and you are stressed when you skip breakfast.
From Wikipedia we find out that in the MiddleAges, breakfast was not usually considered a necessary and important meal, and was practicallynonexistent.
Then the industrial revolution.
regularizedworking hours, and workers needed an early meal to sustain them on all that physicalwork.
Soon all classes started to eat a meal before going to work, even the bosses.
Next, breakfast was revolutionized once againby Dr.
John Harvey when he accidentally created the first cornflake.
Besides inventing the cornflakes, Dr.
JohnHarvey, was the editor of Good Health magazine, where a writer says "In many ways, the breakfastis the most important meal of the day, because it is the meal that gets the day started.
" All the media started borrowingthis phrase and this is how this myth got started one hundred years ago.
At this point I started to feel less depressedabout skipping breakfast.
and a lot more intrigued with what I discovered so far.
Then I had a revelation when I realized thatbreakfast was actually break fast.
Meaning we are breaking our fast from the night.
Only now I realized, that I was fasting allnight.
and I didn't have to break my fast in the morning with breakfast.
This was great news for me, if somehow I couldeat less.
all my fat related problems will go away.
We fast 10-12h every night.
So byskipping breakfast, I could fast for 16h or more, daily.
I already knew that fasting washealthy and used by all major religions around the world for thousands of years.
Ialso knew it's used in modern medicine.
But I still had some concerns.
If I didn'teat anything before lunch, I will definitely experience that hunger sensation.
This lead me to my next little project, aboutfasting and the hunger sensation.
You probably know from the diet world, that if you eat breakfast you'll start burning calories earlier in the day and your metabolic resting rate goes up.
But there's recent medical research done about this that proves once and for all that eating breakfast has zero impact on resting metabolism.
It's true, if you eat breakfast you'll eat less at lunch, but when you'll combine breakfast and lunch, you'll have more calories on your plate then the guy who's having only lunch.
Ever since I was a kid, I knew that if I'mhungry there's a good chance I'll get ulcer, because my stomach acid would have nothingto digest and will start breaking down my own stomach walls.
Never before I have questioned this myth.
But now, it didn't take much time to find out that fasting was actually used for treatingulcer.
This was mind-blowing for me.
Another myth is that if you are hungry you'llget headaches and sensations of dizziness.
These are actually caused by detoxification, dehydration and withdrawal symptoms from sugar.
Another very popular myth from the diet worldis that, fasting slows your metabolism.
Not only that your metabolic resting rate doesn't slow down, but according toa recent study the metabolic resting rate goes up 14% after 84h of fasting.
This means we burn 14% more fat while fasting.
There's also no muscle mass being used asfuel if you fast, but if you don't use them, you lose them, no matter if you're fastingor not.
Now let's see what I found out about the benefitsof fasting.
reduced cholesterol, lower blood pressure, improved insulin resistance,Increased growth hormone secretion, stops tumor growth ,improved immune system.
Cancer is caused by a defect stem cell, dividingout of control.
Fasting can regenerate stem cells and replace damaged white cells withnew ones.
All these benefits are awesome, they are a gold mine for your health.
No diet, pill or super-food has so many health benefits.
And if you don't believe these health benefits from fasting are real, please, check out the description of this video.
You're probably awarethat certain health issues are more frequent in over-weight people.
The problem is NOTWHAT we eat, is HOW much we eat.
We need a break from all this non-stop eating.
Maybe you're thinking that you're just grabbing a bite, you spend less than 1h daily on eating.
But the fact is that usually it takes 24 – 72h for healthy people to completely digest food and eliminate waste products from onemeal.
You can see now why our bodies would need a break from all this.
Imagine driving a car daily, at top speed, all your life.
This is what we do to our own bodies with this constant eating and it'sthe main reason we get sick and over-weighted.
I knew from my findings that fasting was healthyfor me.
I decided to give it a try for the first time.
I skipped breakfast and I didn'teat anything until lunch.
But this was nothing new for me, I've done this before.
What wasdifferent, was my mind-set about eating.
When I was hungry, I felt like a layer offat was ripped off and used as energy.
Food is energy, when we overeat, our bodies storesit as fat for later, when you don't have access to food.
You know this almost never happens in ourmodern lives.
This is the correct mind-set for geek diet.
A layer of fat it's rippedoff when you are hungry! Best diet pill ever! And it's free.
I was having 2 meals a day, lunch and dinnerwith around 5 to 6h between them.
A week later I noticed I had fewer cravings and my appetite got smaller.
I hope it's clear by now that most of us areover-weighted because we eat too much.
If you are worried that a few hours of fastingwill kill you, know that a healthy non-obese men can survive up to 3 days without foodand water, and up to 3 weeks with water and no food.
In 1965, a man of 207 kilograms fasted forone year and 17 days, while the hospital staff monitored him.
In the end he lost about 125kilograms of weight.
Skip breakfast and be happy about it.
Understand how healthy it is for you.
Enjoy and embrace the hunger sensation.
You deserve some time off from all that hard work, so does your body.
I'm not a doctor.
So please ask a doctor beforeadjusting your diet.
You can eat whatever you want with geek diet, but you should know by now what's healthy for you.
I'm also not saying you should skipbreakfast daily, maybe you want to try it once a week, or skip dinner instead of breakfast,or eat only diner.
If you're worried about hormonal imbalance, caused by fasting there's a good book about that too.
and many others, in the description.
Now I'm gonna give you 4 important tips.
#1 Get a cheap diagnostic scale that showsyour body fat percentage.
This is the easiest way to know if you're losing fat, musclesor water.
They are not extremely accurate, but they give you consistent numbers thatyou can use as reference.
#2 Drink plenty of water.
Normally we geta lot of water from everything we eat, so you need to adjust your water intake properly.
You can also drink tea and coffee, but without cream, sugar or honey.
#3 While fasting, don't eat anything.
No snacks,no sugary drinks, no nothing.
You can have later, when you're eating, all the snacksyou're craving for.
#4 Try working-out while fasting, at leastonce.
I didn't do it with geek diet, just to prove a point.
That we can lose fat withoutworking out or dieting.
But working out is healthy and we need it, don't overdo it though.
I hope you enjoy it and if youthink it can help someone lose weight, please share it.
Thanks for watching!.
