Types Of Low Carb Diets | Fasting Bro Talks – Episode 4
There are literally many types of diets.
Some are for fat loss, while others are for gainingweight, getting healthy, and so on.
In today's episode, I’m going to talk about fat loss diets, specifically the low carb kinds.
There have been old and new diets that are designed for fat loss in the modern day era.
Some are more fun to follow than the others, while some are just plain miserable.
I’m going to name some of the more popular diets for fat loss.
Keto Atkins Paleo South Beach Zone Diet PSMF Out of all those 6 that I mentioned, I havepersonally tried 3 of them.
They are Keto, Atkins & PSMF.
All 3 are low carb diets.
At the beginning of my weight loss journey, I wasn’t following any particular diet.
I did calorie counting and portion control, while doing cardio and isolation movement exercises using dumbbells.
It wasn’t until 1 month after when I discovered low carb dieting.
After that, I knew I had to follow a specific plan to have any serious impact on my progress.
I read a lot on low carb dieting, and soon after, I discovered Atkins.
Atkins is a low carb diet developed by Dr.
Atkins that focuses on controlling the levelsof insulin in our bodies.
I did Atkins for a few weeks.
I was not following it religiously.
It had gotten too confusing to me too quick.
There are quite several guidelineswhich you need to follow, and that threw me off.
I was not even doing induction.
I wasjust following their macros protocol.
A few weeks after, I discovered PSMF.
Protein Sparing Modified Fast.
PSMF diet is a low carb, low calorie dietthat was developed in the late 70s.
It is designed to jump-start a weight loss program.
It is a short term diet and as such is not a lifestyle type diet.
I'm miserable! PSMF is mainly responsible for turning me from this, to this.
I was on this diet exclusively for a few months until my weight had gone down to 65 kilos.
Now let’s move on to Keto.
Ketogenic, or keto is a diet that eneratesa molecules called ketones during fat metabolism.
This is called a ketosis state.
When the human body doesn’t have enough glucose to use as energy, it switches to a ketosis state.
And my pee smells too.
I discovered Keto just before I started my 2nd cutting cycle.
While I’m not doing Keto at the moment, it is by far the fastest way to lose weight in my experience.
It’s also enjoyable and can be easily applied into your lifestyle.
I'm happy! Keto, Atkins & PSMF diets are somehwat similar type of diets.
They are all low carb diets, with exceptions of one or two macronutrients that need to be consumed higher than the others.
I have created a chart to help you better understand.
As you can see, carb intakes for all 3 diets are more or less the same.
For Keto, fat intake is high, while protein being moderate.
For Atkins, you need to consume very high intake of fat, and a moderate protein.
While for PSMF, it is strictly low fat and very high protein.
